Roblox Studio is the free, official Roblox software that lets anyone build 3D video games and publish them inside the platform. With it, anyone —including kids— can design worlds, program the game's rules, and share their creations for millions of players to try. It's the tool that turns a child from "player" into "creator".
How Roblox Studio Works
Roblox Studio combines a visual 3D world editor with a programming language called Lua. A child drags in terrain, blocks, and characters to build the scene, then writes Lua scripts to bring the rules to life: what happens when the player touches a coin, how a door opens, or when the round ends.
For example, a child can build an obstacle course (an "obby") where each disappearing platform is controlled by a few lines of code. Roblox gathers more than 70 million daily players, so a well-made game can reach a huge audience.
Why It Matters for Kids
Roblox Studio teaches programming logic, design, and problem-solving while a child does something they already love. That's why it's the starting point of the game-design track in Algonova's coding courses, where kids move from playing to building with purpose. If your child wants to start with the basics, what is programming is a good first step.
