Daily Schedule for Kids During School Holidays: Sample Routines

A daily schedule for kids during school holidays only needs two anchors: a fixed wake time and a fixed sleep time. Everything else can stay loose. A child who wakes at 9am on day three of the holiday and 11am on day ten will struggle when school starts again, and parents carry the drama in week one.
School holidays in Indonesia aren't short. The 2025/2026 end-of-year academic calendar places the break in DKI Jakarta at 27 June to 11 July 2026, Banten 20 June to 11 July 2026, Central Java 22 June to 11 July 2026, and West Java 29 June to 10 July 2026. The first day of the new school year falls on 13 July 2026. For the first-semester break, the 2026/2027 calendar lists 21 to 31 December 2026. Exact dates are set by each province's Education Office, so check your child's own school calendar first.
That means managing two to three weeks with no school structure. Too long to fill spontaneously every single day.
Two Anchors First, Activities Later
Set a maximum wake time and a maximum bedtime. Write it down, stick it on the fridge. For elementary-age kids, waking at 7am and sleeping at 9pm is already far looser than a school day. For middle and high schoolers, shift an hour later if needed.
Once those two anchors are set, fill the day with large blocks. You don't need to plan minute by minute. Name each block by what it holds: active morning, quiet midday, social afternoon, wind-down evening. The child knows what's coming next without feeling watched by the clock.
