Algonova Teaching Team — Mentoring Kids to Python Olympiad 2025
Algonova is an international tech school for kids aged 5–18, present in 90 countries with 600K+ alumni. In Indonesia, our teaching team helps your child learn coding, math, and design — in Bahasa Indonesia, through 1-on-1 mentoring. Our philosophy is Discover & Develop: first uncover a child's natural talent through a Master Class diagnostic, then grow it via an individual learning path. Real result: in 2025, Algonova Indonesia students won a silver medal at the International Python Olympiad.
3 Principles We Hold in Selecting & Training Our Teachers
Not every coding teacher is right for a child. Our philosophy is Discover & Develop — not just transferring knowledge, but guiding the child to find their talent.
Patient Listener, Not Just a Genius
The best teachers for kids aren't the most knowledgeable in theory, but the most patient in re-explaining. Each tutor has hands-on experience teaching children 5–18 and adapts to the child's learning style.
Teaches in Bahasa Indonesia
Our team are local tutors fluent in Bahasa Indonesia and child-friendly. Your child learns coding or math in a language they fully understand — no communication barrier.
Focus on Real Outcomes
Results aren't just 'kid happy'. We take students to international competitions, independent projects, and pathways to top universities. Our philosophy: discover → develop → realized potential.
How Your Child Meets the Right Tutor
4 Steps of the Algonova Master Class
Master Class (MK) is a free diagnostic session where your child explores their interests and we recommend a learning path plus the most-suitable tutor.
01
AI-Assisted Talent Diagnostic
A short, child-friendly session to uncover interests and strengths: does your child prefer building (coding), solving (math), or designing (design). For math we also have an AI Math diagnostic that produces a personal 40+ lesson plan.
02
Multi-Track Exploration
The child tries mini-tasks across fields — coding, design, data — in a safe space. Many kids come for one course but end up choosing a different track after Master Class, because we help them discover their real interest.
03
Tutor & Path Recommendation
Based on diagnostic and exploration results, Algonova's academic lead recommends 2–3 tutors that best match your child's age, interests, and learning style. You're free to choose.
04
Start Learning with a Talent Map
The child begins an individual learning path: not a one-off course, but a multi-year trajectory with checkpoints, real projects, and clear progression.
Dimas stayed with me even when I was struggling with my project. Without him, I wouldn't have been able to finish it. I want to keep getting better with him.

FAQ
What Parents Often Ask
Are Algonova teachers officially certified?
Yes, all Algonova Indonesia teachers are officially certified and undergo a strict internal certification process. Every teacher holds minimum a bachelor's degree in a related field — computer science, informatics engineering, mathematics, or education — and passes technical and pedagogical competence tests before being allowed to teach.
Beyond formal degrees, our teachers also hold relevant industry certifications: Microsoft Certified Educator, Google Educator, Apple Teacher, or certifications from the MIT Scratch Foundation. Many teachers are also winners of national or international math or informatics olympiad medals.
Algonova internal certification covers three areas: technical mastery of subject material (coding or math), child pedagogy ability (age-appropriate teaching methods), and digital ethics (child online safety, data privacy). Certification is renewed annually with continuous training so teachers stay updated with the latest technology and curriculum developments.
How does Algonova Indonesia's teacher selection process work?
Algonova Indonesia's teacher selection process is highly rigorous with an acceptance rate under 5% of total applicants. First stage: application screening based on degree, minimum 2 years teaching experience, and technical portfolio (for coding teachers) or academic achievements (for math teachers).
Second stage: technical competence test with in-depth questions on the material to be taught, plus a 30-minute teaching simulation to assess ability to convey concepts to children. Third stage: in-depth interview with the Algonova academic team to assess passion, values, and culture fit.
Final stage: 1-2 month trial period with a senior supervisor, where every class is monitored and evaluated. Only teachers who pass positive evaluations become permanent teachers. Even afterwards, performance evaluations based on parent feedback are conducted quarterly.
Do Algonova teachers have experience teaching kids?
Yes, kid-teaching experience is a mandatory requirement for Algonova Indonesia teachers. Every teacher has a minimum of 2 years of formal teaching experience — at schools, course institutions, or extracurricular programs — before joining Algonova. Many of our teachers have 5-10 years of experience.
Teaching kids is very different from teaching adults. Teachers must understand the shorter attention span of children, how to build confidence without pressure, gamification techniques to maintain engagement, and how to communicate constructively with parents.
Algonova also provides special training for teachers on digital child psychology — including how to detect kids struggling in online class (harder to spot than in face-to-face class), personalisation techniques for kids with different learning styles, and how to handle shy, hyperactive, or special-needs children.
What languages do Algonova teachers teach in?
Algonova Indonesia teachers are available in two languages of instruction: Bahasa Indonesia and English. The language choice is determined at registration based on family needs and the child's school type (national or international).
For Bahasa Indonesia classes, our teachers are fluent native Bahasa Indonesia speakers who can explain technical concepts (coding, math) in age-appropriate language. Bilingual technical terminology is used when needed (e.g., "loop" remains "loop" since it's commonly used in industry).
For English classes, bilingual teachers or native English speakers are available. Many of our bilingual teachers have studied or worked abroad (Singapore, Australia, US, UK) and can teach with a neutral accent easily understood by Indonesian children.
Children can also ask questions in Bahasa Indonesia during English class if they struggle with specific terms — our teachers flexibly adjust.
What if my child does not click with their teacher?
If your child does not click with the assigned teacher, Algonova Indonesia offers a free teacher change option. We understand that compatibility between teacher and child personality greatly affects learning success — children comfortable with their teacher are far more engaged and progress faster.
The change process is simple: contact the Algonova team via WhatsApp or email, share the concerns (personality, teaching style, schedule, or anything). Our team will discuss alternative teacher options and schedule a trial with the new teacher for the next session.
There is no limit to how many times you can request a change, and no penalty or extra cost. Algonova prioritises learning success over administrative efficiency. Our experience: over 95% of families are satisfied with the first assigned teacher, but the 5% who need a change usually find a match with the second teacher.
Will my child have the same teacher throughout the program?
Yes, Algonova Indonesia applies a "one teacher per group per level" policy so children have the same teacher throughout the program. This consistency is important to build a personal relationship between teacher and child, track detailed progress, and adapt methods to the child's individual learning style.
If the child's program spans multiple levels (e.g., Basic Scratch → Advanced Scratch → Python), the teacher typically stays the same if they master the next level's material. For transitions to levels requiring different expertise (e.g., from Scratch to Advanced Python), we match with a specialist teacher while maintaining feedback continuity.
Exceptions occur if there are schedule changes (teacher or child), or if parents request a change. In such cases, the new teacher receives a complete handover about the child's progress and characteristics so the transition is smooth. The goal: kids feel class is a safe, familiar environment.
What is the teacher-to-student ratio in Algonova classes?
The teacher-to-student ratio at Algonova Indonesia is deliberately kept very low to ensure every child gets personal attention. For standard group classes, the ratio is 1 teacher per maximum 6 children (1:6) — much smaller than offline bimbel which is typically 1:20 to 1:40.
For kindergarten classes aged 5-7, the ratio is even smaller at 1 teacher per maximum 4 children (1:4) because young kids need more intensive attention and technical guidance (operating the platform, focus, etc.).
For families wanting full attention, one-on-one private class (1:1) is available. This format is most intensive and suits kids with special needs, high-level competition preparation, or specific topic depth. Pricing is higher because the teacher's time is entirely for one child.
Small ratio is a core pillar of Algonova methodology and a key differentiator from mass-market courses.
Can parents communicate with teachers outside class hours?
Yes, Algonova Indonesia provides official communication channels between parents and teachers for questions, feedback, or updates outside class hours. Communication is done through the Algonova platform or official WhatsApp with the academic coordinator (not the teacher's personal number) for security and professionalism.
For questions about child progress, an automatic monthly report is sent to parents with details of topics mastered, areas still needing practice, and recommendations for the coming weeks. Additionally, scheduled parent-teacher meetings happen every quarter for in-depth discussion about progress and targets.
For technical issues (child can't attend, platform difficulties) or administrative questions (schedule, fees), Algonova support is available 7 days a week via WhatsApp. Response is typically within 1-2 hours during business hours. Our goal: smooth but professional communication that doesn't disrupt.
What is the educational background of Algonova teachers?
Algonova Indonesia teachers' educational backgrounds are diverse but all with high minimum standards. The majority of our teachers are bachelor's or master's graduates from top Indonesian universities (UI, ITB, UGM, BINUS, Telkom University, ITS) in computer science, informatics engineering, information systems, mathematics, physics, or education.
Some teachers are also graduates from foreign universities — NUS Singapore, Australian universities (UNSW, Melbourne), US universities (Stanford, MIT, Berkeley), or UK universities (Imperial, UCL). This diverse background provides valuable global perspective for Indonesian children.
Beyond formal education, many of our teachers have professional experience before teaching: software engineers at Indonesian tech companies (Gojek, Tokopedia, Traveloka, Bukalapak) or global companies (Google, Microsoft), data scientists, AI researchers, or tech startup founders. This industry experience means teachers don't just teach concepts but also real-world application context in the work world.
What is the minimum experience for an Algonova tutor?
Each of our tutors has experience teaching children aged 6–18, plus internal Algonova training focused on the Discover & Develop methodology. Many tutors are graduates of top Indonesian universities. The academic team evaluates every tutor regularly via session recordings and parent feedback.
Are Algonova tutors native English speakers?
Our team are native Bahasa Indonesia speakers and teach in Bahasa Indonesia. All tutors are also fluent in English to help students learn international coding terminology. Classes are conducted in Bahasa Indonesia by default.
Are all tutors male?
No. Our team has a balanced mix of male and female tutors. You can request a gender preference during Master Class — we'll match it with your child's personality and learning style.
How does Algonova evaluate tutor quality?
Every class is reviewed by the academic lead via session recordings (with parent consent). Parents give ratings and feedback that integrate into our internal system. The result: an average rating of 4.9★ across the Algonova Indonesia team.
Can I choose a specific tutor for my child?
Yes. After the free Master Class, we recommend 2–3 tutors that best match your child's age, interests, and learning style. You're free to choose. If the experience doesn't fit in the first 2 sessions, we'll switch tutors at no extra cost.
How much do Algonova classes cost?
Course fees depend on the program, frequency, and child's level. We offer a free Master Class where you'll receive a personal package recommendation and pricing.
