What Is Roblox Studio: How Kids Build Their Own Games

Roblox Studio is a free application from Roblox used to build, design, and publish your own 3D games on the Roblox platform. Unlike simply playing, Roblox Studio turns kids into game makers: they design worlds, write the rules of play, and share them with millions of other players.
How Roblox Studio Works
Roblox Studio works in two layers. First, a child builds the 3D world visually — placing blocks (parts), shaping terrain, and arranging objects like buildings or obstacles. Second, they bring that world to life with code in the Lua programming language, for example making a door open when touched or counting a player's score.
A simple example: a child builds an "obby" (obstacle course) arena, then adds a Lua script so players jump higher when they step on a red button, and invites friends to try it. Once finished, the game can be published straight to Roblox — a platform with more than 70 million daily active players — so the child's creation is genuinely played by others.
Why It Matters for Kids
Making games turns a child from a player into a creator. Through something they already love, kids learn logic, problem-solving, and the basics of programming without feeling like they are "studying". These Lua and game-design skills become a strong foundation toward professional languages like Python. This path is the core of the Algonova coding course, where kids build real projects step by step with a mentor.
