What age can a child join AI class?

Algonova's AI classes are for children ages 8 to 17. Ages 8 to 11 start with the basics: what AI is, where a model learns from, and how to tell AI-made output from human-made work. Ages 11 to 14 build projects with AI tools, such as a simple chatbot, while practicing clear prompt writing. Ages 14 to 17 move into Python and machine learning, from processing data to training a first model. For children under 8, we recommend starting with visual coding first, since data and pattern concepts need stronger reading readiness. We give a level recommendation after the free 60-minute trial class, so your child doesn't land in material that's too easy or too advanced. All classes run online with a live teacher, in a small group or privately.

Is the Coding and Artificial Intelligence subject compulsory at school?

No, it's an elective. Permendikdasmen No. 13 of 2025 sets Coding and Artificial Intelligence as an elective subject at primary and secondary level. Rollout is phased starting the 2025/2026 school year, in grade 5 (SD/MI), grade 7 (SMP/MTs), and grade 10 (SMA/SMK/MA/MAK). Kepmendikdasmen No. 127/P/2025 confirms implementation flexibility, so schools open it based on teacher readiness, facilities, and local government support. So students aren't required to take it, and schools aren't required to open it right away. Time allocation is roughly 2 lesson hours per week at elementary and middle school level. Algonova's online classes for ages 8 to 17 are used by parents whose school hasn't opened the subject yet, or whose child wants deeper material than that two-hour weekly slice. Teachers start from your child's actual understanding via the trial class, rather than assuming one module fits everyone, since school readiness for the subject genuinely varies.

My child has never coded before, can they join AI class directly?

The 8-to-11 and 11-to-14 stages require zero prior coding: kids start from AI examples they already use daily, visual projects in Scratch, then prompt-writing practice. For ages 14 to 17, Python basics are taught from zero inside the class, so a teenager with no programming background can still reach the stage of training their first model. What matters more is reading readiness and willingness to try, not prior coding hours. Our free 60-minute one-to-one trial class is how we find your child's starting point, and the teacher then recommends a fitting stage with reasons. If a child turns out better suited to basic coding first, we say so plainly rather than pushing the AI class.

As a benchmark, coding tutoring for kids in Jakarta is usually priced Rp 300,000 to Rp 1,000,000 per month for 4 to 8 sessions, and at several providers the onsite rate is recorded higher than the online rate for the same material. Because Algonova classes run online, there's no pickup cost and no time lost commuting each week. The number of monthly sessions is set with parents after the trial, based on the child's age and family schedule across WIB, WITA, or WIT. We don't sell a large package that must be paid before your child tries a class.
